Should secondary data users pay to access de-identified health data?

This presentation discusses the challenges and potential solutions to sharing de-identified individual level health data. The talk opens with a debate question about paying to access data for secondary use and goes on the discuss other ethical and practical aspects of data sharing such as consent, data ownership and potential harms of sharing. Prof. Phaik Yeong Cheah will also talk about current data sharing requirements by funders and journals, and some practical solutions to promote data sharing while mitigating potential harms. She will draw on her experience coordinating the MORU Data Access Committee, her own research on data sharing and chairing Covid-19 Clinical Research Coalition Data Sharing Working Group.

Developing a generic health-related quality of life instrument for paediatric health technology assessment in Singapore

Preference-based health-related quality of life measures are preferred tools for quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) calculation in cost-utility analysis (CUA) of health interventions or technologies. While quite a few preference-based measures (PBM) are available for measurement and valuation of adult’s health-related quality of life, no PBMs have been made available for use to assess paediatric products in Singapore. EQ-5D for youth (EQ-5D-Y) is one of the few PBMs for use in paediatrics. This research program aims to localize EQ-5D-Y to Singapore. We conducted a series of studies to culturally adapt the EQ-5D-Y questionnaire and assess its content validity and psychometric properties in local paediatric populations. A valuation study is under the way to develop a local value set for EQ-5D-Y.

Hepatitis C Virus Elimination Symposium: Strategies to Eliminate Hepatitis C as a Public Health Concern in Asia Pacific (APAC) by 2030

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health aims to advance the efforts in Hepatitis C elimination through the HCV Elimination Symposium 2022. The Symposium brings together experts from around the region to discuss key gaps in health policies preventing the APAC region from reaching the target goal of hepatitis C elimination by 2030. It will also enable sharing of best practices and lessons learnt with policymakers and practitioners which in turn can be adapted in their home countries to eliminate Hepatitis C. These interactions and learnings will contribute to life-saving and life-changing movements.
