About Us

Our Story

What would it look like if community members were not just participants in healthy ageing programmes, but actually co-producers of the knowledge about what works?

We work with communities every day to tackle challenges like these — translating ideas into action, and action into empowerment. At SAGE, we thrive on co-creating pathways for seniors to lead change, strengthen wellbeing, and build connections that matter.

Since 2024, we’ve embarked on a journey to bring health movement building to seniors — creating spaces where they can work together to address pressing health issues that hold meaning for their communities. Grounded in the principles of health movement building and participatory action research, SAGE advances a strategy that complements and extends existing initiatives promoting resilient ageing and living well at older ages. Our goal is simple yet transformative: to nurture empowered, connected seniors who can drive sustainable change in their communities.

We recognise that good design must both zoom out to understand the systems that shape health and zoom in to engage with lived experience. That’s why co-design lies at the heart of how we create change. We collaborate with seniors, volunteers, community members, and stakeholders whose insights, stories, and actions guide every step of our work.

Our toolbox is broad — encompassing approaches for building health movements, strengthening participatory research, and developing communication strategies that empower communities. Supported by an interdisciplinary team, we bring together research, practice, and lived experience to reimagine what empowered ageing can be.
