Meeting in Vientiane on Parasitological Survey Planning

Researchers from the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health held a successful meeting in Vientiane on 12 March 2026 to plan a parasitological survey.

The principal investigator, Assistant Professor Thomas Crellen, gave an insightful presentation on the burden of disease from carcinogenic liver fluke. The team is grateful to the Lao PI, Dr Somphou Sayasone at the Lao Tropical and Public Health Institute, and all the stakeholders who travelled to the event and shared their valuable perspectives on the study’s implementation and objectives, which aim to better support communities affected by parasitic diseases.

The meeting was also graced by the Vice Dean of Global Health, Professor Alex Cook, and the NUS SSHSPH-Lao Programme Lead, Assistant Professor Kiesha Prem.
