Overview
Discover how digital technologies and innovations are reshaping Information Technology in Healthcare. This course introduces key concepts like Electronic Health Records, Clinical Decision Support, and Standards for Interoperability. Students will gain exposure to workflow analysis, usability design, requirements gathering, and rapid prototyping. Explore emerging areas such as Telehealth, Social Drivers of Health, Public Health Analytics, and Change Management. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to propose and evaluate IT solutions that address real-world healthcare challenges, making them valuable contributors to innovation and transformation in health systems.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will:
- Remember: Identify key components of healthcare IT systems, including Electronic Health Records, Clinical Decision Support, and interoperability standards.
- Understand: Explain how digital technologies such as Telehealth, AI, and Public Health Analytics are transforming healthcare delivery.
- Apply: Conduct workflow and usability evaluations to assess the effectiveness of healthcare IT solutions.
- Analyze: Propose change management strategies for IT implementation.
- Evaluate: Critically assess healthcare IT products for compliance, usability, and alignment with clinical needs.
- Create: Design innovative IT solutions that address real-world healthcare challenges.
- Synthesize: Integrate ethical, legal, and operational considerations into the planning and deployment of healthcare IT systems.

Entry Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Relevant health related or IT work experience
- Candidates with other qualifications and experience may be considered on a case by case basis, subject to approval
Assessment & Certification
This is a SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) approved course. As part of SSG funding requirements, participants have to achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all assessment(s)/examination(s).
An electronic certificate will be issued to all participants who complete the course:
- Certificate of Competence – Attain a ‘C’ grade or above and meet a minimum of 75% attendance
- Certificate of Participation – Attain a grade lower than ‘C’ and meet a minimum of 75% attendance
Course Instructor

Assistant Professor Ling Zheng Jye
Dr Ling is a health informatician working in public sector healthcare. His interests are in Healthcare Management, Clinical Decision Support, Design Thinking, Public Health, Primary Care physician in the Intermediate & Long Term Care sector, especially nursing homes and primary care clinics. He is involved with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for medical informatics. Dr Ling enjoys helping his colleagues deliver care more effectively and happily via tailoring products to fit the local workflow.

Remarks:
- All enrolled candidates will also be required to pay a Student Services Fee of S$25.70*.
- Self-Sponsored participants can use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for or offset course fees. SkillsFuture Credit claim has to be submitted to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) within 60 days before course commencement. SSG will not allow claims to be made after the first day of the course.
- The University reserves the right to review and adjust the course fees and make changes to the programme structure and requirements as necessary and accordingly without prior notice.
