Overview
This course will introduce the knowledge and tools related to rapid response methods and field epidemiology such as contact tracing, incident investigation, and public health surveillance. Besides technical skills, it will also provide practical insights and hone inter-personal skills to resolve challenges during outbreak management.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Apply field epidemiologic methods to undertake rapid response on the ground
- Assist in surveillance and outbreak investigation using a systematic approach
- Acquire skills to effect preventive and preparedness actions
Who Should Attend?
This course is recommended for physicians and non-physicians (including environmental, veterinary, food and safety, public health officers) to meet a need for professionals who can carry out field investigations and disease control.
Assessment & Certification
Participants will be awarded an electronic Certificate of Completion in Basic Outbreak Rapid Response if they achieve at least 75% attendance, pass the assessment at the end of the course, and meet the payment timeline as well as other terms and conditions for SSG funding eligibility.
Pre-requisites
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree
- Relevant public health related work experience
- Candidates with other qualifications and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to approval

SSG Funding Requirements
- This is a SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) approved course. As part of SSG funding requirements, participants must pass all assessment(s) and adhere to the fee payment timeline of 60 days from the course start date.
- Individuals will not receive certification if they fail to meet the assessment requirements, payment timeline, and/or other terms and conditions for SSG funding eligibility.

Cancellation
- Cancellation is permissible if conveyed to the course administrator in writing via email before 18 July 2025.
