Dr. Vannarath Te is Head of the School of Public Health at the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH), Ministry of Health, Cambodia. He is a public health leader, researcher and educator whose work focuses on health policy and systems, health workforce development, health professional education, implementation research and health systems strengthening.

At NIPH, Dr. Te provides strategic leadership for the School of Public Health and coordinates its PhD programme. His work combines research, education and policy engagement, with a particular focus on translating evidence into policy and strengthening institutional and workforce capacity for public health in Cambodia.

Dr. Te leads the development of Cambodia’s national dental curriculum, working with national stakeholders to strengthen the quality and relevance of pre-service dental education. His broader national roles include serving as Deputy General Secretary of the Dental Council of Cambodia, a member of the National Technical Working Group on Oral Health Care, and a member of the National Equivalence Committee for Health Professional Certificates, and the National Ethics Committee for Health Research.

His research and policy work has included health workforce planning and mobility, ASEAN health professional education and recognition, health systems strengthening, non-communicable diseases, digital health, antimicrobial stewardship and public health capacity development. Dr. Te currently leads and coordinates several research and capacity-building initiatives, including work on primary care workforce development, health policy and systems data analytics, emergency laboratory workforce deployment, antimicrobial stewardship, and digital and AI-enabled approaches to non-communicable disease prevention and management.

His academic background includes a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Antwerp in collaboration with the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Belgium, and Master’s degrees in Public Health and International Public Health from the University of Queensland, Australia.
