Honorary Visiting Associate Professor

BANZON Eduardo P.

I am Dr. Eduardo P. Banzon or Dodo. I am a Principal Health Specialist in the Southeast Asia Regional Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and a champion of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

I initially worked as a community organizer helping people in urban poor and remote rural communities (barangays) improve their access to quality health care services. I then became a faculty member in the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business where I taught doctors and other health workers, hospital owners and managers, and others knowledge and skills that help them become enablers and facilitators of health system reforms. I became a senior official and later President and CEO of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation developing and implementing policies and programs that expand access and availability of health care services. I eventually provided technical guidance on health reforms to several countries in Asia and Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa.

As part of ADB and NUS, I will continue to help Asia and the Pacific achieve UHC, and my wife Johanna (Jo) and I will continue to raise three wonderful children, Juan Eduardo (Dodi), Julian Francisco (Juancho), and Julianna Fidelis (Yanni) for a future with UHC.
