Abstract:
Wolbachia technology is seen as a promising tool for Aedesborne disease control. These diseases occur in dense, urbanized locations with sustained multi-year transmission cycles. Yet, real-world evidence on its suppressive effectiveness and efficacy remains limited to small-scale studies over short durations. To address evidence gaps, large-scale trials were conducted in Singapore to evaluate the epidemiologial and entomological efficacy of Wolbachia technology.
In this webinar, Dr Lim Jue Tao will present on recent developments, challenges and key findings on Wolbachia efficacy trials over the last decade. This will be followed by a panel discussion by Dr Lim, Prof Ng Lee Ching and Prof Ary Hoffmann on the use of Wolbachia as a vector-control strategy. The session will be moderated by Prof Leo Yee-Sin from the Saw
Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUS.
