Academic Requirements

The Master of Science in Health Economics and Outcomes Research requires applicants to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree with good honours, or its equivalent, in a healthcare-related discipline or a quantitative discipline such as economics, engineering, mathematics, science, or statistics.

Applicants without honours may also be considered if they hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related discipline or a quantitative discipline and have a minimum of two years of relevant working experience.

English language requirements for International Applicants*

Other international applicants must submit test scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) and must meet the minimum scores required:

  • 85 on the TOEFL test
  • 6.0 on the IELTS Academic test

Test scores for the TOEFL and IELTS Academic are valid for 2 years from the test dates. TOEFL and IELTS Academic scores that are no longer valid will not be accepted.

  • For TOEFL, please request the testing organisation to send your scoresheet directly to Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. Please quote 7897 for the TOEFL Institutional Code.
  • For IELTS scores, applicants can submit a scanned copy of their IELTS scoresheet.

TOEFL/IELTS requirements are waived for applicants whose undergraduate or graduate degrees are from Singapore autonomous universities, and English-medium institutions in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Meeting the minimum requirements does not imply automatic admission into the programme.
