To me, SAGE represents a community participation platform and process aiming for greater engagement and empowerment of senior residents. It supports ownership and communal contribution — intangible, but important for personal flourishing.
As a catalyst, I engage individuals, groups, and organisations towards local community ownership. As a strategist, I explore frameworks, re-examine existing approaches, and promote partnership and collaboration across the community, environment and governance arenas, through a practitioner-implementer, sustained-development lens. Since 2023, I have been working on place-based initiatives with ground-up groups, formal community organisations, social enterprises and research institutions in Queenstown. This work aims to encourage residents to flourish by taking ownership of their own neighbourhood, and to work with neighbours on efforts whose benefits reach other neighbours and the wider community.
