Lead, Singapore Chinatown Group
I have lived in Chinatown all my life. As someone who is also getting on in years, I feel for the health of the older adults here — what helps them will also help me.
Towards the second part of my life, I have begun to question how much I really know about our common heritage, especially in the area where I live. The seniors here are our cultural heritage treasures. They still have much to share, and much for us to learn. They spent much of their time building up Singapore, often neglecting their own health. In their twilight years, we could at least do our part to help ensure they have a better quality of life. In a fast-changing Singapore, from its buildings to its language, our elders face real challenges in keeping up. We need to help them feel comfortable.
