Singapore is adopting a more supportive approach to tackle youth vaping, moving away from punitive measures. Under a new policy, children reported by their parents may be referred for counselling instead of being fined, signalling a move toward rehabilitation over retribution.
However, for this approach to succeed, it must be backed by strong public awareness, community trust, and system-wide coordination since many youths and parents remain hesitant or unaware of these options. Given the scale of the vaping crisis, how can Singapore build a system of safe, accessible pathways that can serve the growing number of affected young people?
