Overview
Health informatics transforms health care by analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating information and communication systems that enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve care, and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, students will be able to use knowledge of patient care combined with the understanding of informatics concepts, methods, and tools to:
- Assess information and knowledge needs of health care professionals and patients
- Characterize, evaluate, and refine clinical processes
- Develop, implement, and refine clinical decision support systems, and lead or participate in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems

Pre-requisite
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant public health-related work experience
- Candidates with other qualifications and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to approval
Assessment & Certification
This is a SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) approved course. As part of SSG funding requirements, participants have to achieve at least 70% attendance and pass all assessment(s)/examination(s).
An electronic certificate will be issued to all participants who complete the course:
- Certificate of Competence – Attain a ‘C’ grade or above and meet a minimum of 70% attendance.
- Certificate of Participation– Attain a grade lower than ‘C’ and meet a minimum of 70% attendance.
Course Instructors
Adj Associate Professor Adam Chee
A convergence scientist familiar with Health(Care), Informatics, Innovation, Technologies and (equally important,) the Business aspects of the ecosystem, Adam serves as a coach & conduit between diverse key opinion leaders & stakeholders, engaging at operational, strategic and governmental levels as well as developing commercial relationships with global firms and local start-ups in the utilization of Data, Technology & Design as enablers for transformation, addressing the challenges of existing and new models of health(care).
Bringing years of experience and expertise in strategy & operational consulting, technology & workflow advisory, design, spearheading implementation & adoption of solutions across Asia Pacific and Middle East, Adam had a successful career in the Tech industry before venturing into Health Informatics in 2002. His unique background also includes working in business, market development and product management with established MNCs and innovative Startups. Adam also ‘earned his stripes’ as an industry pioneer, implementing and managing clinical information solutions during his tenure with Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) and have since worked across the healthcare ecosystem, including the primary care sector, private & public tertiary hospitals, research institutes, government health agencies and NGOs across the globe.

Remarks:
- All enrolled candidates will also be required to pay a Student Services Fee of S$25.70*.
- Self-Sponsored participants can use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for or offset course fees. SkillsFuture Credit claim has to be submitted to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) within 60 days before course commencement. SSG will not allow claims to be made after the first day of the course.
- The University reserves the right to review and adjust the course fees and make changes to the programme structure and requirements as necessary and accordingly without prior notice.
