Assistant Professor

Dr. Swapnil Mishra is an Assistant Professor at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. His work advances global health through the development and application of statistical machine learning and Bayesian modelling, particularly for infectious disease modelling, the evolution of pathogens, and spatiotemporal data. Mishra applies flexible and scalable computational methods to tackle public health challenges such as epidemics (COVID-19, malaria, HIV) and broader issues in science and policy.

His research supports global health goals including pandemic preparedness, disease surveillance, and pathogen evolution. Mishra is a co-founder of the Machine Learning & Global Health Network, a collaborative initiative addressing global health problems through machine learning. He is a member of MIDSEA Network, a network that organises regular research and training events in ASEAN and beyond. He has received several prestigious recognitions, including the NUS PYP (2024), NRF Fellowship (2023), and the Blackwell-Rosenbluth Award (2022).
