Dr Pyae Phyo Aung
As the recipient of the JC Trust Master of Public Health (MPH) Scholarship, I would like to express my gratitude to the JC Trust Board for allowing me to pursue my MPH at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health.
I am a medical doctor by training and have been contributing in the field of public health, specifically on the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) and Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB). My time with the School learning invaluable public health modules, participating in robust discussions with Professors and experts in the field as well as the sharing of various experiences by my classmates has greatly benefitted me. As my country, Myanmar, face many public health issues compounded by limited resources, being given the opportunity to study MPH has provided me the advantage to contribute to the betterment of my community once I finished my one year at NUS.
Coming from low-income family, my financial problem was a barrier to my dream of studying at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. Thus, being a recipient of this scholarship has allowed me to overcome this challenge and pursue an MPH degree that will not only be of value to me but also to my home country.
