Angkana Huang

Assistant Professor

HUANG Angkana T.

Angkana T. Huang (aka HAT) seeks to advance the understanding of mechanisms driving pathogen ecology and evolution through deeply data-grounded approaches. Her research spans molecular changes of viruses to population-level host demography, as well as the immunological impact that co-circulating viruses have on the transmission of one another. Her work focuses primarily on arboviruses, especially dengue virus, and respiratory viruses.

Beyond pushing analytic boundaries to extract insights from sparse, biased, or complex data, she also works to improve the quality and quantity of data collection through innovative tools. Together, these efforts aim to enable practical, context-appropriate public health innovations that are scientifically robust, operationally relevant, and sustainable.

In addition to research and methodological innovation, HAT is committed to reshaping scientific ecosystems to be more open, democratic, and impactful. Examples of this commitment include serving on the inaugural Governance committee of the Climate Sensitive Infectious Disease Network (CSIDNet) and a founding committee of the Global Society for Infectious Disease Dynamics (GSIDD).
