What is this course about?

Upon successful completion of the course, participants should be proficient in interpreting pharmacogenetic testing results, understanding the pharmacogenomics best practice advisories and clinical decision support, and using this to provide appropriate individualised patiente-specific advice.

By the end of this short course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the basic concepts in genetics and pharmacogenetics
  • Provide examples of pharmacogenetic services in clinical practice
  • Interpret pharmacogenetic testing results, understand best practice advisories and clinical decision support related to therapeutics, and adjust prescription based on patient’s genetic makeup
  • Understand the Ethical, Social and Legal implications of clinical pharmacogenetic implementation

  • Practising clinicians, pharmacists and healthcare workers seeking to expand their knowledge and skills in using and implementing pharmacogenomic services in their clinical practice in drug therapy optimisation and patient care
