Abstract:
This workshop introduces the basics of how to interpret and/or conduct an economic evaluation of a immunisation programme. Participants will learn the importance of vaccine economics and explore how vaccines differ from other health interventions. They will also learn the basics of transmission dynamic modelling of immunisation, and learn how to conduct economic evaluations alongside these models through hands-on exercises using Excel. The workshop also offers a glimpse into advanced topics, including macroeconomic modelling, incorporating equity considerations, vaccine-induced changes to pathogen ecology, and the broader socioeconomic effects of vaccines. Designed for professionals in public health, policy, and health economics, the course combines theory with practical skills to equip learners to assess the full value of vaccines.
