Synopsis:

The Hospital Authority is a statutory body responsible for managing Hong Kong’s public hospitals services since December 1991. We are accountable to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government through the Secretary for Food and Health, who formulates overall health policies for Hong Kong. The 43 public hospitals and institutions, 49 Specialist Out-patient Clinics and 73 General Outpatient Clinics. These are organised into seven hospital clusters based on locations. As of 31 March 2018, we have a workforce of about 76,000 and some 28,000 beds.

About the speaker:

Dr PY Leung was the longest-serving Chief Executive of Hospital Authority of Hong Kong (HK HA). He was trained as an Occupational Health Physician at NUS and after returning to HK worked in various areas ranging from food and environmental hygiene to drug control and PH regulation. He joined HK HA as Director of Quality and Safety and was promoted to CE in 2010. He has just retired from HK HA. He will share the lessons he has learnt from his professional journey and the core skills and values he has acquired that has served him well in the various different work context.
