Celestine Grace Cai Xueting (MPH '20)
Celestine is a Saw Swee Hock Master of Public Health (MPH) Scholar and was on the Dean’s List for both semesters in the academic year 2019/20. An NUS alumna, she obtained her Bachelor of Science (Highest Distinction Honours) in Life Sciences and Minor in Public Health in 2018.
After learning so much about solutions for alleviating illnesses through my studies in the life sciences, I became curious about what causes these ailments and how they can be prevented. To this end, I decided to pursue an MPH to learn more about the field of epidemiology. Studying the MPH at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health is one of the best decisions I’ve made. The professors readily share their wealth of knowledge on their expertise; the staff are approachable and helpful; and most importantly, the friendships and insights of fellow course mates from all walks of life are invaluable. The MPH has not only given me a solid foundation in epidemiology but also demonstrated how epidemiological research findings can be translated into actionable health policies. Despite the difficult pandemic situation, the School adapted well with online classes and the learning process was smooth. With the help of this MPH training, I am pursuing a career in the public health sector and hope to contribute to evidence-based healthcare for a healthier, happier population. Thank you for the opportunity to study the MPH and thank you for all the experiences over the past year!
