How to Apply – Doctor of Public Health

Full-Time & Part-Time | 3 to 5 Years

The University has not engaged any external agencies to undertake graduate student recruitment on its behalf. Candidates interested in our graduate programmes are advised to apply directly to the University and not through any agents. Candidates who apply through agents will not have any added advantage in gaining admission and the University reserves the right to reject such applications without providing a reason.

Application Period

The application period for the January 2027 intake is from 1 February to 30 June 2026.

All required documents, including referee reports and official transcripts sent directly by the awarding institutions, must be received by 7 July 2026.

Applications that remain incomplete after 7 July 2026 will not be reviewed.

Before Application

1. Compulsory Attendance

Successful candidates admitted in January 2027 are required to attend the following in-person courses:

  • SPH6901 Effective Public Health Leadership
  • SPH6902 Evidence-Informed Public Health Policy & Decision-Making

These courses will be conducted on campus. Please ensure that your calendar is blocked during the following periods:

  • 18 to 23 January 2027
  • 26 to 31 July 2027

Please note that the dates indicated are subject to change, and final confirmed dates will be provided in the offer letter. Students who do not attend will be automatically deferred to the following year.

2. Application Overview and Document Preparation

3. Supporting Documents: Personal Statement

Provide a statement addressing your professional experience, the relevance of the DrPH programme to your career goals, and how it will support your future contributions to public health.

This Applicant Guide is a reference for applicants who wish to apply to the NUS graduate programmes. As the admission requirements vary from programme to programme, please expect to encounter pages/ sections that may be different from those shown in this guide.

After Application: Official Verification by External Institutions

1. Transcript Request Requirements (for non-NUS degrees only)

  • For NUS qualifications, uploaded transcripts will be verified internally. No additional action is required.
  • For non-NUS qualifications, you must arrange for your official transcript to be sent directly from your institution.

Your university may send the official transcript using one of the following methods:

US universities

  • Transcripts must be sent via Parchment directly to the School.

All other universities

  • Secure electronic transcript sent from the university’s official system to: SPH_DrPH@nus.edu.sg
  • Official transcript emailed by authorised academic records staff:
    – The sender’s email must be listed on the university’s official website.
    – The sender must include the URL where the email address is published.
    – Transcripts from unverifiable sources will be rejected.

Recognised services

  • OpenCerts (.opencert file) for NUS, NTU, SMU, SUSS, and SUTD through MySkillsFuture
  • WES evaluation reports sent directly by WES
  • CSSD-verified transcripts sent directly by CSSD (for Chinese applicants)

2. Institutional Mentor

When identifying an Institutional Mentor, applicants should consider individuals who are familiar with their professional role and organisational context and who are able to support the completion of practice-based portfolio tasks under SPH6905 DrPH Portfolio.

The proposed institutional mentor is required to use their organisation-assigned email address when completing the prescribed Institutional Mentor Acknowledgement Form.
