Tuas Newater Factory to increase production capacity to 75 million gallons a day

Singapore is expanding NEWater production through the Tuas NEWater Factory to meet future demands. Alongside this, PUB is developing a NEWater exhibit at Marina Barrage and a learning gallery at the upcoming Tuas Nexus, Singapore’s first integrated water and solid waste treatment facility.

Prof Ong Choon Nam who was the director of the Centre for Environmental and Occupational Health Research at the NUS, led a team of researchers to carry out more than 20,000 tests over 2.5 years to evaluate the quality of Newater. He also contributed technical knowledge as the chairman of the International Expert Panel on Newater from 1999 to 2003, along with his fellow panel members.

Hear from Prof Ong Choon Nam as he shares his journey in the development of a pilot plant to test reclaimed water, laying the foundation for the Bedok NEWater Factory and Visitor Centre.
