Close to 200 graduands, alumni, and faculty came together on the delightful evening of 10 July 2024, at the One Farrer Hotel for the AlumNite 2024 Pre-Commencement Celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement as attendees gathered with their loved ones to celebrate this significant milestone.
The celebration kicked off with a inspiring Welcome Address by our beloved Dean, Prof Teo Yik Ying. With a radiant smile, he congratulated the graduands on their remarkable achievements and perseverance throughout their studies. Adding to the excitement, Prof Teo announced the launch of two new programmes: a Doctorate in Public Health and an AI in Public Health programme. This news was met with enthusiastic applause, as it highlighted the School’s commitment to pioneering education and innovation in the public health sector.
“From a macro perspective, there are mega trends that will change the way public health is being practiced. Whether it is in terms of aging populations, changing demographics or new technologies, there are more work ahead of us as public health professionals.”
The celebrations reached their pinnacle during the award presentation segment, as the School recognised the outstanding academic achievements of our students and the dedication of our student representatives. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation and pride as names were called and achievements celebrated.
Prof Teo and Assoc Prof Liow Chee Hsiang, Vice-Dean of Education, took the stage to announce the award recipients. Among the highlights were the honorees of the Dean’s List for the Master of Public Health programme and the Graduate Student Research Award. Each announcement was met with enthusiastic applause, cheers, and a sense of shared accomplishment. The evening concluded in high spirits with laughter, shared memories, and a sense of camaraderie, making AlumNite 2024 a truly unforgettable celebration for everyone present.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the graduands on their well-deserved achievements. May your future be filled with success, fulfillment, and an unwavering dedication to improving public health. The future is bright, and we have every confidence in your ability to make a difference!
