The National Population Health Survey 2022 revealed that only 37.6% of Singaporean women aged 50 to 69 had gone for a mammography in the past two years which is below the World Health Organization’s recommended level, with bottlenecks such as long waiting time and shortage of radiologists.
Detecting #breastcancer from mammogram images using the naked eye can also be very challenging as calcifications often appear white in the images, making them difficult to spot in dense breasts, which are common in Asian women.
Hear from Assistant Professor Feng Mengling as he sheds light on how FathomX, a Singaporean medtech startup pioneering AI solutions for early breast cancer detection, leverages on artificial intelligence (AI) to address these bottlenecks.
