It is with great joy and pride that we extend our warmest congratulations to A/P Jeannette Lee, Vice Dean (Academic Affairs), on being conferred the Long Service Medal at the National Day Awards 2023.
The Awards, celebrated annually on August 9th, is a means of recognising various forms of merit and service to the nation. The Long Service Medal was instituted in 1962 and is awarded to any person who is of irreproachable character, whom the President is satisfied, and has completed at least 25 years of service.
Jeannette’s journey has been one of continuous dedication and contributions since 1998 when she joined the Department of Community, Occupational and Family Medicine. Her exceptional service, spanning years of commitment, has not only left an indelible mark on our academic community but has also inspired countless individuals along the way.
From 2012 to 2020, Jeannette has helmed the Education Office as Vice Dean and served as the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme director. Under her leadership, the MPH curriculum was reviewed and updated with a revised offering of specialisations. Extending public health education to undergraduates, she also initiated the Minor in Public Health in AY2013/2014.
Jeannette has played an active and instrumental role in the engagement of regional and local partnerships for student placements and internships, as well as capacity building with regional public health professionals. These include collaborations with the University of Hong Kong, Lao Tropical and Public Health Institute, and Christian Medical College, Vellore.
Since July 2020, Jeannette has took on the role of Vice Dean (Academic Affairs), leading talent acquisition and management, and leadership development. She has been steadfast in leading the Academic Affairs Office in ensuring its faculty policies and processes are aligned with the strategic vision and mission of the School. Her tireless efforts in advancing academic affairs and promoting the well-being of students and faculty members have been pivotal in shaping the academic landscape of the School.
