A night of glitz, a night of generosity, and all for a very good cause.
In conjunction with the celebration of a century (1913 – 2013) of surgical excellence, the NUS Department of Surgery hosted an evening of charity dinner with wine and photo auctions in support of breast cancer research on Thursday, 22 August 2013, at the Four Seasons Ballroom, Four Seasons Hotel.
With the increasing numbers of breast cancer in women being diagnosed each year, the event – graced by guest-of-honour, Ms Ho Ching, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer, Temasek Holdings, and his Excellency Mr Leonid Petrovish Moiseev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Singapore, Embassy of the Russian Federation – helped raise awareness and deepened guests’ understanding of this global deadly disease.
Programme highlights included a presentation on Asian Breast Cancer Research by Assoc Prof Mikael Hartman with the aim that solutions may be adopted and contextualised around the world, with an emphasis to breast cancer in Asian women. Steadfast friends and ardent supporters of the cause bonded over the bespoke wine and food menus and also had the opportunity to view and bid for some of Russian naturalist photographer, Igor Kryukov’s iconic collections. Guests were also treated to the talented quartert performance by the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
All proceeds from the evening’s wine and photograph auctions were donated to the Asian Breast Cancer Research conducted by NUS.
