Professor Saw Swee Hock receives President’s Award for Philanthropy

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) warmly congratulates our distinguished alumnus and philanthropist Professor Saw Swee Hock on receiving the President’s Award for Philanthropy (Individual category)! The award was presented by President of the Republic of Singapore, President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam at the President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Awards (PVPA) ceremony on 23 October 2013, in honour of individuals and organisations who have set excellence benchmarks in encouraging the spirit of giving in Singapore.

As a member of the NUS Board of Trustees, Professorial Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies and President’s Honorary Professor of Statistics at the NUS Department of Statistics and Applied Probability, Prof Saw was awarded for his philanthropical contributions towards society, especially in the field of higher education. His extensive generosity has seen the establishment of numerous medals, scholarships and bursaries, as well as his landmark donation of $30 million which paved the way for the establishment of our School, the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, to become Asia’s leader in public health education, training and research.

We at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health extend our heartiest congratulations to Prof Saw on being conferred this distinguished and well-deserved honour.
