“Why is Diabetes a silent killer?”
“What is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes?”
These were some of the questions that were posted by some of the residents that had attended the Punggol 21 CC Health Fiesta- Say No to Diabetes Dialogue on 25th of March 2017.
As part of the school’s ongoing efforts to educate the public on diabetes and what might be the underlying factors that causes diabetes, Professor Chia Kee Seng, Dean of the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, Assistant Professor Dr Mary Chong and Dr Sue- Anne Toh from the NUHS RHS addressed the questions and concerns from the residents. They also shared tips with the residents on healthy eating habits, diabetes prevention and better management of diabetes.
Approximately 90 participants that were residing in the Pasir Ris- Punggol GRC attended this event and they went away with a better knowledge of the risks of diabetes and how diabetes can be prevented with simple diet modifications and lifestyle changes.
The event was graced by Mr Ng Chee Meng, Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.
