The NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Health Environment Management Agency (HEMA), Ministry of Health of Viet Nam on 6 May 2018.
Through this collaboration, the institutes will cooperate to develop trainer capabilities for occupational health and safety in the workplace; establish integrated workplace safety and health management, also known as Total Workplace Safety and Health (Total WSH); and build holistic leadership, management and specialist capabilities in programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public healthcare programmes.
Drs Jeff Hwang and Bernard Thio conducted the basic course in Occupational Health on 7-9 May, with participants mainly from occupational health units under the Ministry of Health of Viet Nam.
The advanced course in Total WSH was conducted by A/Prof Norbert Wagner on 7-8 May, and was a follow-up to a basic course conducted in Oct 2017. Participants from hospital administrations across Viet Nam presented the general prevention and health promotion programmes at their workplaces, which they had planned and conducted after the first course in Oct 2017.
