Giving Stories

Dr Phyo Thet Naing Win

Coming from a developing country, I have been learning through my time at NUS to not just see a public health problem singularly but in different perspectives because the classes involve teachers and students with different backgrounds who shared their valuable experiences and inputs during discussions. Moreover, Singapore’s education system motivates students to grow their knowledge and experience on a faster pace which I encountered myself as my limits are tested. NUS has also given me valuable friendships and connections that I will not forget.

While working with an international organisation back home, it has been my dream to attend the Master of Public Health in one of the prestigious universities in the world. I am grateful that the scholarship from JC Trust offered me that opportunity and allowed me to further strengthen my knowledge and skills required to become a qualified public health professional. Without the support of JC Trust, I would not be able to study in a conducive environment and receive necessary training from teachers and peers with different cultures and backgrounds.

As Myanmar aims to achieve Universal Health Coverage by 2030, I strongly believe that the skills and methodologies that I learnt from the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and the experiences from my Master of Public Health programme would contribute towards this goal.
