CLARKE Ryan

Dr. Ryan Clarke is a seasoned biosecurity and strategic affairs specialist with a career which has spanned defense, investment banking, healthcare, strategic research units, technology and government affairs. He has operated across the Asia-Pacific over a 20-year period as well as the Middle East, Africa and Latin America with a core focus on emerging biosecurity risks (both natural and man-made). Dr. Clarke uses next-generation network graph methods, artificial intelligence-driven precision search and knowledge representation and other frontier methods to surface previously subterranean network structures, isolate and effectively assess and mitigate emerging biosecurity risks and translate key research findings into a range of strategic outcomes. He is the author of over 150 technical reports and peer-reviewed articles in addition to 6 books, including his recent 2023 book (with Xiaoxu Sean Lin and LJ Eads), titled China’s International Military-Civilian Virology Fusion: High-Risk Pathogen Research, Global Linkages and Strategic Implications with Broad Publishers in Taipei. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge where he was awarded the Salje Medal. He speaks Hindi/Urdu, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, Hanyu/Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
