Strengthening International Ties in Occupational Health

On 9 Oct 2023, Prof David Koh and Assoc Prof Ng Wee Tong visited the University of Occupational & Environmental Health (UOEH) in Japan on behalf of the School.

The primary purpose was to discuss the operationalisation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the School and UOEH. The MOU signifies both institution’s collective commitment to promoting collaboration and the exchange of information on scientific topics of mutual interest within the realm of occupational health and safety.

The School looks forward to deepening our partnership with UOEH and working together to make our world safer and healthier.

Centre for Environmental & Occupational Health (CEOH)

Assoc Prof Ng Wee Tong was appointed as Director for the School’s Centre for Environmental & Occupational Health (CEOH) from 1 October 2023.

Formerly known as the Centre for Environmental & Occupational Health Research (CEOHR) under Prof Ong Choon Nam’s directorship, the rebranded Centre for Environmental & Occupational Health (CEOH) will drive education, thought leadership and research in the environmental and occupational health arena, critically evaluating the contemporary issues in health, safety, and well-being of individuals in the workplace.

Presently the School’s Director of Continuing Education and Training (CET), the CEOH will, under Assoc Prof Ng’s leadership, utilise cutting-edge environmental and occupational health pedagogy and methodologies for education across a spectrum of levels, from undergraduate curricula and corporate continuing education and training (CET) courses to post graduate qualifications and key courses in the Master of Public Health (MPH), equipping individuals and organisations with the tools to create safer and healthier workplaces.

The Centre will also seek to evaluate the impact of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) on the workforce, and provide thought leadership in structuring workplace policies and processes to benefits employees and employers alike, conduct and support research in key areas of interest, including work-related musculoskeletal disorders, mental health of workers, work capacity and human factors in the workplace. Assoc Prof Ng will also drive and develop partnerships with organisations, industries, and communities, both locally and globally, to collectively promote better workplace health outcomes.
