“In Doctors without Borders, I was an intern under the Operations Support Unit and was given the opportunity to plan and execute the first phase of a research and stakeholder mapping project on emergency preparedness and response in Singapore,” shared Quek Hui Yi.
Hui Yi had always felt the calling to make a real difference in the lives of others. She was keen to contribute to reducing health inequities and disparities in Singapore and the region.
Enrolling in the Second Major in Public Health has allowed her to build a solid understanding of the diverse determinants of health behaviours and strengthened skillsets such as problem-solving, critical thinking and collaboration. This came in handy during her internship with Doctors without Borders where she put the theoretical frameworks she had learnt into practice.
Find out how you can make a difference too! Application for the Second Major in Public Health is now open till 10 April 2023.
