YB Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham Bin Hj Jaafar, Minister of Health of Brunei Darussalam, visited the School on 8 Feb 2023 as part of follow-up discussions after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Dr Hajah Norsurainah @ Noraslinah binti Haji Ramlee, and officers from the Brunei High Commission.
Dato Isham was warmly received by Prof Teo Yik Ying, Dean of NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. During the meeting, Prof Teo shed light on the history and roles of the School as Singapore’s first national public health tertiary education institution. He went on to elaborate on the importance of the School’s Biostatistics and Modelling in the control and management of infectious diseases such as the COVID-19 pandemic and how this has aided policy planning in Singapore.
Dato Isham and Datin Hajah also shared their valuable insights on public health challenges and exchanged perspectives on population health initiatives with Prof Teo and the other Vice Deans present.
The delegation was subsequently invited to a tour of the School’s Population Cohort Clinic and the visit was concluded with a networking lunch hosted by Prof Teo.
