Fellows from ASEAN convened in Singapore for the final session of the ALPHA Fellowship Programme 2022 from 30 Nov to 2 Dec 2022. This programme was funded by Temasek Foundation and led by Assoc Prof Jeremy Lim and the Leadership Institute for Global Health Transformation (LIGHT) team, and comprised of monthly online sessions, as well as two in-person sessions in Singapore.
The Fellowship programme aims to nurture a cohort of early-career professionals in public health with a shared vision for health in ASEAN, leading to an innovative outlook on global health thanks to the Programme’s focus on the use of technology and data in healthcare and its applications on pandemic preparedness, management and response.
Professors from the School as well as experienced external speakers from other healthcare institutions in Singapore and from partner organisations in the region shared their valuable insights. Topics discussed included Responsible Data Sharing, Modelling for Pandemics, Policy Making in Pandemics, Genomics, Real-Time Integrated Data Systems for Pandemic Management among others. Partner organisations included Hanoi University of Public Health, World Bank Indonesia, AINQA (Malaysia) and CMB Foundation (Thailand).
In-person sessions included site visits to Health Promotion Board, Centre for Healthcare Innovation, National Centre for Infectious Diseases, and Ang Mo Kio Polyclinic. During these sessions, Fellows had ample opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and industry experts alike, forging meaningful professional connections for the future.
