NUS-NUHS-MIT Healthcare AI Datathon: 7–8 July 2018

This second installment of the series is in partnership with local and international organisations such as the Ministry of Health Singapore (MOH), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC), University of Tokyo, Google Cloud, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), Philips Healthcare, SG Innovate, AI Singapore, Lenovo, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), International Business Machines (IBM), Intel, Nvidia and many others.

The event features the development of Healthcare AI technologies in Singapore and the region, bringing together clinicians, data scientists and innovators to address current problems in healthcare with data analytics technologies. It also serves as a platform to cultivate cross-disciplinary collaboration around developing data analytics and AI technologies on healthcare data, and to pave the way for reliable knowledge to be translated into action to benefit patients.

This year, the organisers are expecting 200 participants who will be divided into three tracks:

  1. the AI for Critical Care track, where the EICU dataset from Philips will be featured;
  2. the Clinical AI track, where local EMR data from NUH for the past 10 years will be provided; and
  3. the Medical Image track, where DGX and TPU machines will be provided by the event’s computational sponsors.

For faculties and PIs, the datathon will allow you to:

  • Test out your existing models or develop new models with large amount of real-world healthcare data
  • Find your clinical collaborators on healthcare AI and data analytics
  • Form partnerships with invited scientists from MIT, UIUC, University of Tokyo, etc.
  • Network with industrial partners to incubate potential collaborations
  • Communicate your project ideas to funding agencies such as MOH, AI Singapore and A*STAR

For research staff and students, the datathon will allow you to:

  • Test out your existing models or develop new ones
  • Gain hands-on experience working with large amounts of real-world healthcare data, cloud-powered big data analytics, and GPU- and TPU-powered deep learning
  • Work alongside local and international leaders in healthcare AI
