Breast Cancer Meanings Symposium (BCMS) 2018

Date Of Event:
Friday, March 16, 2018

This symposium marks the completion of the first phase of a three-phased Asian Anthropology research and intervention program on Asian Breast Cancers. It is the first Pan Asian Anthropology work for breast cancer led by Singaporeans, across eight countries, to scientifically address a disease of epidemic proportion.

Phase One focuses on the intensity of breast cancer epidemic in Asia and the need to understand the cultures and barriers hindering screening and seeking treatment in some Asian countries. In Phase Two, our anthropologists and public health researchers will explore in-depth understanding of women in Singapore. Lastly, our public health researchers in Phase Three will implement interventions that aim to improve the uptake of screening and health-seeking behaviours.

This event provides a platform for researchers, healthcare providers and students from various disciplines to gather and explore possible future collaborations on breast cancer research.

Register here by 2 February 2018.
